CODE OF CONDUCT / STANDARDS – OVERVIEW
- What does ACPP represent?
- Accredited Consumer Product Professional
- What is the purpose of the designation?
- The certification mark certifies that individuals in the consumer products industry have successfully completed the prescribed program of study and met the professional standards established by the Institute for Consumer Products.
- The certification mark “Accredited Consumer Product Professional (ACPP)” is used to distinguish individuals in the consumer products industry who have met the standards established by the owner, namely:
- Successful completion of a prescribed program of study in the field of consumer products;
- Successful completion of an examination administered by or on behalf of the owner;
- Compliance with the professional standards and code of conduct established by the owner; and
- Approval by the owner following review of the individual’s application for certification.
- The training and examination may be delivered or administered by a third-party provider approved by the owner.
- The owner, namely the Institute for Consumer Products, controls the use of the certification mark and authorizes its use only by individuals who meet and maintain the required standards. The owner monitors compliance with such standards and may suspend or revoke authorization to use the certification mark where the standards are not maintained.
- The standards governing the use of the certification mark are publicly available on the owner’s website.
- Authorized individuals may use the designation “ACPP” in association with their name in professional communications and marketing materials, in accordance with the guidelines established by the owner.

EXAMINATION/ASSESSMENT
- Is there an exam or evaluation process?
- Yes there is an examination process that is evaluated by a third party
- Who administers it?
- What is required to pass?
- 80% on unit exams and 80% on the final.
CERTIFICATION GRANTING PROCESS
- Who approves and grants the ACPP designation?
- The Institute for Consumer Products
- Is there a formal application or review process?
- Yes, the Institute will review applications and grant approval for the ACPP.

USE OF ACPP DESIGNATION
- How are certified individuals allowed to use the designation (e.g., post-nominal letters, marketing materials)?
- Certified individuals are permitted to use the ACPP designation in the following ways:
- Post-Nominal Letters – Certificants may use the letters “ACPP” after their name in professional correspondence, email signatures, business cards, and LinkedIn profiles (e.g., Jane Smith, ACPP).
- Marketing Materials – Certificants may reference their ACPP designation in resumes, bios, company websites, proposals, and other professional marketing materials.
- Digital Badge – Certificants may display the official ACPP digital badge issued by the Institute for Consumer Products on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.
- Certificate – Certificants may display their certificate of completion issued by the Institute for Consumer Products.
- Are there any restrictions on use?
- The designation may only be used by individuals who have been formally granted the ACPP by the Institute for Consumer Products.
- The designation may not be used after it has been suspended or revoked.
- Certificants may not alter, modify, or misrepresent the designation or the associated digital badge in any way.
- The designation may not be used in a manner that implies endorsement of a product, service, or organization by the Institute for Consumer Products.
CIRCUMSTANCES FOR SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION
- Under what circumstances can certification be suspended or revoked?
The Institute for Consumer Products reserves the right to suspend or revoke an individual’s ACPP designation under the following circumstances:
- Misrepresentation or Fraud – Providing false or misleading information on the certification application, or cheating on any examination administered as part of the certification process.
- Unauthorized Use of the Designation – Using the ACPP designation in a manner inconsistent with the guidelines established by the Institute, including use after suspension or revocation, or misrepresenting the designation in any way.
- Failure to Meet Certification Standards – If it is determined that an individual no longer meets the professional standards established by the Institute for Consumer Products.
- Conduct Unbecoming a Certificant – Engaging in professional conduct that is deemed harmful to the integrity, reputation, or mission of the Center or the Institute for Consumer Products or the ACPP designation.
- Criminal or Illegal Activity – Conviction of, or a formal finding of guilt related to, a criminal offence or illegal act that reflects adversely on the individual’s professional integrity, honesty, or fitness to hold the ACPP designation.
APPEALS & SUSPENSIONS
A certificant or applicant who wishes to challenge a decision made by the Institute for Consumer Products regarding the denial, suspension, or revocation of the ACPP designation may submit a formal appeal in accordance with the following process:
- Grounds for Appeal – Appeals may be submitted on the grounds of procedural error, new or material evidence not previously considered, or where the decision is believed to be inconsistent with the standards and policies of the Institute.
- Submission of Appeal – The appellant must submit a written notice of appeal to the President of the Institute within 30 days of receiving the decision. The notice must include a clear statement of the grounds for the appeal and any supporting documentation the appellant wishes to be considered.
- Review Process – The President will acknowledge receipt of the appeal within 5 business days and will review all submitted materials, and may request additional information from either party.
- Final Decision – The President of the Institute for Consumer Products will render a final decision within 60 days of receipt of the appeal. The President’s decision is final and binding on all parties.
